Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy HD is an app for iOS devices that includes the first 3 games in the Ace Attorney series, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice For All, and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations, originally released in Japan for the Game Boy Advance by CAPCOM and brought to North America as Nintendo DS games. In the game, you play as Phoenix Wright, a young lawyer. You must interrogate witnesses, investigate crime scenes, and present the right evidence in court to find your client not guilty!
This is a great game! All the characters are likeable, the humour is good, the stories are engaging, (There are 4 or 5 short stories in each game.), and the gameplay is innovative! If you can even call it that, it's mostly reading. Which I love! There is also a neat feature called "Everyone Object!", where you can choose a lawyer character, make them say something, and send it to a friend as a gif! That is pretty neat, but there is hardly any space to write anything, leaving a lot less opportunities for things that they could say. Oh well, I still sent gifs to almost everyone I know! Now on with the negatives. While the HD looks great on the characters and environments, you can really see the detail, I can't say the same about the menus. The menus actually look worse than the DS version. While the resolution is higher, the way the menus work is a huge downgrade from the DS version. They are pretty ugly and they don't work as good as the original version. However, the worst thing about this game is the bugs, which there are a lot of. The bugs can make the game difficult to play at times, but the internet will be glad to help if you get stuck. The app came out a few years ago, so I don't think we will be getting a fix from CAPCOM. They are too busy making bad Resident Evil games, cancelling Megaman games, and ripping people off with day one DLC! The bugs aren't a huge problem, they are just a nuisance. Overall, this is a great game! It isn't perfect, and it certainly isn't as good as it's DS counterparts, but if you are someone who doesn't own a Nintendo console, like me, this is not a bad alternative! Now, there is another app called "Phoenix Wright", which is just a perfect port of the first game, with no bugs and the same graphics as the DS version. That app is great too, but I'd recommend this one because it includes all the games. The bugs are a small price to pay! If you are the owner of an iOS device, check this game out! It's a free download, but you only get the first 2 stories of the first game. You can buy the rest via an in-app purchase at a reasonable price. It will also become available for the Nintendo 3DS sometime in the future. Maybe THEN we will get a fix! So, yeah. Try it out! I would recommend it for ages 11 and up because there is blood, violence, and swearing in the game. There are a few sexual innuendo jokes and some of the female characters have big boobs. I would give it 3.8 stars out of 5! I definitely have no more objections about this game!
